In Loving Memory

Delonte Andre Simon, lovingly known to family and friends, passed away on April 13, 2026, at the age of 35 due to complications of multiple sclerosis. Born on July 2, 1990, in Washington, DC at Columbia Hospital for Women, Delonte was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, friend, and a light in the lives of all who knew him.

Delonte was the cherished son of Stacy Simon and Derrin Perkins. He grew up in Washington, DC in the Quincy/R Street neighborhood, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed the vibrant personality that so many came to love. He attended Dunbar Senior High School and graduated in 2008, and later obtained his CDL and worked for Metro and Greyhound, where he began building his path in driving to provide for his son Elijah.

Known for his kindness, humor, strength, and loyalty — you would always see him with a smile on his face. Delonte had a presence that could fill any room. Whether through his smile, his laughter, his wisdom, or simply the way he showed up for others, he made people feel seen, valued, and loved. He had a special gift for encouraging others, bringing people together, and making people laugh.

He had a deep love for family, music, and was a Die Hard Redskins/Commanders fan. Those closest to him will always remember his smile, his generosity, and his style. Delonte leaves to cherish his memory his son Elijah, parents Stacy Simon and Derrin Perkins, siblings Tashae, Domia, Michael Jr, Mikya, Brandy, Demarco, and Derrin Jr., along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to honor his life and legacy. Though his time with us was far too short, Delonte's impact will live on in the hearts of everyone he touched. His love, his spirit, and the memories he created will never be forgotten. In honoring Delonte, we carry forward the love he gave so freely, the joy he brought into our lives, and the strength he showed each day."
